PROGRAMS & SERVICES PROVIDED BY MCCAC

Family Advocate Program - Designed to support non-offending parents in cases of alleged child sexual abuse and in some cases of severe physical abuse. The Family Advocate Program allows us to immediately provide support for the non-offending caregiver so the caregiver can support the child and the child can remain safely in the home, thus keeping a portion of the family unit together and preventing the child from going into foster care. This program offers a support group for non-offending parents and is facilitated by the Family Advocate and a Master Level Therapists.

Kids Court - An activity based program designed to familiarize children and their non-offending caregivers with the courtroom proceedings and process. It is designed to alleviate the anxiety children experience when testifying. The program emphasizes telling the truth and feeling comfortable in the courtroom.
Therapeutic Services - The center contracts with therapists to provide on-site individual, group and family counseling.
Supervised Visits - The center provides a child-friendly environment and staff to supervise court ordered visitation.
Forensic interviews - Aids in determining whether or not a crime has occurred and assess the child's safety in the current living arrangement. Forensic interviewing is first step in most child protective services investigations, one in which a professional interviews a child to find out if he or she has been maltreated. In addition to yielding the information needed to make a determination about whether abuse or neglect has occurred, the approach produces evidence that will stand up in court, should the evidence leads to criminal prosecution. Screening interviews is done if: no disclosure, no corroborating evidence or no perpetrator is named.

Report Rape Program - Provide formal training for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners in the process of administering the Oklahoma State Bureau Investigation Rape kid and the collection of evidence by using forensic interviews. The program provides standardized training for SANE Volunteer Advocates who assist the nurse and give emotional support to the rape victim during the examinations. We also host annual formalized training for law enforcement and DHS child welfare workers in age appropriate interviewing and video taping interviews of children.

If you are interested in training so you can become a volunteer advocate, please email Ann Matthews at amatthews@starnetok.net or download and print this PDF application and return completed to our office.

Rape/Sexual Assault Exams - Child sexual abuse exams are conducted by a Pediatrician. Children (12 years and older) and adults rape exams are conducted by Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. The exam, change of clothing, minor medical care, and medication is free.

Sexual Assault Survivors Group - Support group designed to assist rape survivors in getting a handle and control of the emotional trauma associated with rape. The group provides suggestions on dealing with daily life and family in a positive and healing manner.

Drug Endangered Children Program - Drug testing children who are exposed to Methamphetamine Lab toxic chemicals and maintain a database for research of the long term health effects on the children.
